Southwire's oldest and largest facility. Established in 1950, this facility was the first in a series of manufacturing plants. The plant achieved OSHA VPP Star status in 2011. Southwire's Utility Products Plan manufactures products that support low, medium, and high voltage cables for utilities. Attendees will tour the 1 million square foot facility and will witness a variety of innovative and patented products for transmission and distribution being manufactured.
Southwire Energy Center (30-Minute Bus Ride)
One of Southwire's newest facilities. This 150,000 square foot facility was built in 2014 to house the manufacturing operations for Southwire's substation control cables. As visitors enter the facility they are greeted with an overview of Southwire's history detailed on the walls, a detailed representation of where Southwire cables have been used, and a panoramic video. Visitors will have the opportunity to visit the observatory for a bird's eye view of the plant floor in action. Also, visitors will be able to tour the plant and get an up-close view of the manufacturing process for substation cables.
